Our Vision for the Future
In June 2006, Guide Dogs Queensland launched a Major Giving Program to raise funds for a major redevelopment of our Brisbane headquarters.
The association estimates we will need at least $9million to ensure our facilities provide the level of service required to meet a major increase in demand in the near future.
It is a fact that Guide Dogs Queensland’s clients will at least double by the year 2024.
The redevelopment of our Breeding and Training Centre will see the upgrade and doubling of our kennel capacity and whelping block; and the addition of a further 10 rooms to our client accommodation and rehabilitation capacity.
On behalf of our Bequest Donors we will also soon begin work on Legacy House, where in the event of their passing, donors can leave their pets in our care until a new home can be found.
Our intention to grow and develop the association’s role in professional development in Rehabilitation Services field has also prompted the inclusion of our Centre of Excellence in Mobility Education.
The entire redevelopment design will incorporate the latest in sustainable development measures related to water conservation and waste management.
To date our campaign has attracted sponsorship from a number of Queensland companies including Macrossans’ Lawyers, the Queensland Eye Centre, Aust-Coast Refrigeration, Bank of Queensland, Bingo Supply Group, Royal on the Park Hotel, Tyrrell’s Wines and Opera Queensland.
