Leave a gift in your Will
Why you need a Will:
Your will is the only way in which you can be confident that your affairs will be settled according to your wishes. It can be a way of expressing your love and concern for your family, close friends or organisations with whom you have a strong affinity or commitment.
So whether you have few possessions, or many possessions, for peace of mind, you should have a will.
Your will is only effective if it has been properly prepared and executed. It is strongly recommended that you consult a qualified legal advisor when making a Will.
Making a bequest to Guide Dogs Queensland:
It is easy to include Guide Dogs Queensland in your will and whilst Guide Dogs Queensland is not providing you with any legal advice, the following provisions could be considered by your legal advisor when making a will:-
If you wish to make a residuary gift:
“I give and bequeath unto Guide Dogs for the Blind Association of Queensland my whole estate free of all duties and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer of the said Association shall be a complete discharge to my Executors and Trustees for the moneys paid in accordance with this bequest”.
If you wish to donate a percentage of your estate:
“I give a - % of my Estate to Guide Dogs for the Blind Association of Queensland free of all duties and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer of the said Association shall be a complete discharge to my Executors and Trustees for the moneys paid in accordance with this bequest
If you wish to donate a specific sum:
“I give the sum of $ …………….to Guide Dogs for the Blind of Queensland free of all duties and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer of the said Association shall be a complete discharge to my Executors and Trustees for the moneys paid in accordance with this bequest."
Free Will Service:
Whether you choose to make a new Will or wish to change the one you already have, this can be done through our Free Will Service.
After referral, Guide Dogs Queensland will advise of a Solicitor in a convenient location who will assist you in the preparation of your Will.
If your Will has detailed provisions, is complex or requires estate planning considerations, the referred Solicitor will be entitled to charge you for those additional costs.
The generosity of caring people gifting a bequest to Guide Dogs Queensland in their wills assists us to help many thousands of blind and vision impaired people, either by providing a Guide Dog (in fact a client may have up to six or seven Guide Dogs in their lifetime) White cane orientation and mobility training, Grief Counselling and many other services that the Organisation provides to those suffering from vision loss.
