Guide Dogs Queensland's Breeding and Training Centre avoids flood threat
Guide Dogs Queensland's Breeding and Training Centre at Bald Hills remains high and dry despite record-breaking floods descending on Brisbane.
The entire centre of staff and Guide Dogs was evacuated around noon on Tuesday, 11 January in preparation for the unprecedented flood event which threatened riverside suburbs in the city.
Staff who were able to make it to work at the Gympie Rd site went home with up to four dogs each in order to completely evacuate the centre until the flood threat had passed.
The site remained unaffected and less than 24 hours later operations resumed with Guide Dogs-in-training, Breeding Stock and puppies returned to the Kennels on Wednesday morning.
All of Guide Dogs Queensland's offices around the state are open, however, offices in Rockhampton, Bundaberg and Toowoomba have been closed at various times in the past week due to flood waters preventing staff and volunteers from attending the premises.
General inquiries in regard to services, donations, volunteering and support can be made by calling the Breeding and Training Centre on 07 3261 7555 or by clicking on this link for your local regional office.
