Council staff keep it casual for Guide Dogs Queensland - July 2010

Gold Coast City Council staff recently swapped their corporate attire for casual dress in support of Guide Dogs Queensland.

The ‘Go Casual For A Cause Day’ held on 24 June raised $1,647.20 for the association.

Gold Coast City Council Corporate Finance Manager, Ms Mary Harkins, will present a cheque to Guide Dogs Queensland Community Relations Officer Ms Jane Wright at a special ceremony on Thursday, 22 July.

“We have a regional office on the Gold Coast and provide a range of training and support services to hundreds of Gold Coast residents who are blind or have low vision,” Ms Wright said.
“We are proud of our history of service on the Gold Coast and are indebted to the local community and organisations like the Gold Coast City Council for continuing to support the association through donations and volunteering.”
Guide Dogs Queensland is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The association held its first meeting in 1960 and has since grown to become a world leader in the provision of Guide Dogs, Long Canes, electronic aids and support to people who are blind or vision impaired.
