International Guide Dog Day

This important day of celebration in the Guide Dog world is held on the last Wednesday of April each year - and this year falls on ANZAC Day - Wednesday, April 25th, 2012.

To avoid a clash with this day of remembrance we are celebrating International Guide Dog Day (IGDD) with our Guide Dog Team Graduation on Thursday, April 19th, 2012.

This event is by invitation only and will be held at our Breeding and Training Centre at Bald Hills.  In keeping with the spirit of IGDD, this event celebrates the independence, mobility and freedom achieved by people who are blind or have low vision through the eyes of a Guide Dog.

This year we expect to qualify a record number of Guide Dog teams thanks to an increase in breeding production over the past two years.

In the last financial year the number of Guide Dog teams to qualify in Queensland was 17, and this figure is slowly increasing in line with the incidence of vision impairment, an ageing population and demand for Guide Dog mobility.
