Top Ways to Help

Want to ‘do something’ to help Guide Dogs Queensland, but don’t know what to do or where to start?

There are many ways you can support Guide Dogs Queensland:

VOLUNTEER

Volunteer to sell merchandise at our shopping centre stalls; help with administrative duties in our regional or head offices; or volunteer at one of our events; become a full-time volunteer and raise a puppy, care for one of our Guide Dogs-in-training (Public Relations) and accompany the dog at promotional events and functions or board one of our breeding stock. Click here for more information.

DONATE

You can give as much or as little as you can afford. Drop loose change into one of our iconic Collection Dogs or make a (secure) donation online. You can also take part in Workplace Giving, or make a bequest to Guide Dogs Queensland in your will as an easy yet powerful way to show support for fellow community members living with low or no vision.

If you live near our Breeding and Training Centre at Bald Hills, Brisbane, or in the Bundaberg area you can also donate new or good quality second-hand clothes, furniture and other goods to our ‘Op Shop’.

FUNDRAISE

Organising your own fundraising activity is a great way to get active and social in support of Guide Dogs Queensland, while helping to raise awareness of our services. The support we receive through the fundraising efforts of individuals, schools, organisations and businesses is vital to the ongoing delivery of our life-changing services to Queenslanders who have low or no vision.

Throughout the year, Guide Dogs Queensland stages several of their own fundraising events. If you don’t have the time to organise your own fundraising efforts, these events are the perfect way to show your support to GDQ.

SPONSOR DOGS AND EQUIPTMENT

Join our Puppy Club from just $21 a month lets you share the journey of puppies as they grow and train to become Guide Dogs.

Guide Dogs aren’t for everyone, though, so mobility aids - such as the GPS Trekker, Mini-Guide, or UltraCane - are used by clients who are blind or have low vision to find their way safely and become as independent as possible. GDQ purchases this equipment, which we then provide free of charge, so your sponsorship is a significant help.

MAKE A PURCHASE

By buying top quality merchandise in our online shop, purchasing a ticket in our Art Union (which could see you drive away in a BMW worth $75,000), or joining our Wine Club, you will add to our fundraising efforts and help cover the $30,000 it costs to train and place each and every Guide Dog.

Guide Dogs Queensland has also developed its own dog food – Leading RAW. We believe a raw food diet is best for a dog’s digestive system – and we’re seeing the result. A percentage of all Leading RAW sales goes to the training and placement of Guide Dogs.
