The Reserve Bank of Australia recently announced that a new touch feature will be added to banknotes in the future which will help people with low or no vision distinguish their banknotes.

The new banknote design is yet to be finalised, with details about the release dates and how the new banknotes will be issued to be released in the coming months.

In addition to the new tactile feature, the bright colours, large and bold numerals and size differentials of current bank notes will remain.

The bank will also continue to fund the production of the CashTest Device – a credit-card sized device that uses the length differentials to help distinguish banknotes.
