Last week we were excited to welcome Channel 10’s Totally Wild crew on site at our Bald Hills training centre.
The crew came to film a special feature on eight-year-old Chantel Dodd – the Gold Coast primary school student who is ‘Reading for a Guide Dog’, with a target to fundraise $35,000 to raise and train a new Guide Dog for a Queenslander in need.
You can read more about Chantel’s inspiring story here.
Chantel had a great time reading a book to ‘Barry’ the PR Dog, as well as seeing some Guide Dogs-in-training working in our enrichment zones and learning how to locate spare seats for their handlers.
Chantel even tried her hand at walking with a cane and an instructor under blindfold through a short obstacle course to experience what walking is like without sight.
We hope that Totally Wild viewers enjoy watching the segment as much as Chantel enjoyed filming it! The episode will run over the next few months, so keep an eye out on our Facebook page to see when it will run.
Don’t forget to check out Chantel’s Facebook page while you’re at it – show her your support!
