We’re lucky to have lots of superheroes in our midst at Guide Dogs and this month we had the chance to celebrate some of them!
Our clients on the Volunteer Peer Support Program recently visited our Bald Hills training centre to update their skills. As part of this, they had a costume party where they dressed up as superheroes to celebrate their “superpowers” (or skills) that help them deliver this program to other people who may be struggling with vision loss.
These clients all volunteer their time to help others who are also vision impaired, under the guidance of one of our counsellors. New clients can be matched with a volunteer when they require information or support in relation to a particular eye condition, mobility preferences, confidence issues or even the process of getting a Guide Dog. Help and advice is only a phone call away.
Thanks to your support, we’re able to able to offer programs like the Volunteer Peer Support Program that offer wonderful outcomes for our clients.
