Puppy standing among Collection Dogs

It’s not often we can tell people that we’re pleased to be reunited with a dog that went missing 20 years ago – but in this case, we can.

In January we were alerted via an Instagram post that a lost Guide Dog had been found hiding in a secret spot in Brisbane City.

A demolition crew was renovating a building in Edward Street, when an old Guide Dog collection container fell out of a wall that was being demolished.

Judging by the design of the stickers on the collection dog and the age of the coins inside, we believe the container is about 20 years old. What a special find!

The collection container had somehow been sealed into the wall in a previous re-sheeting of the foyer where it was found.

Unfortunately there wasn’t thousands of dollars stored inside this time around, but never-the-less, we are very thankful to the crew who uncovered the collection dog for their honesty and getting it back to us.

The Collection Dog program is a major fundraiser for Guide Dogs Queensland. If you can host a Collection Dog at your workplace, please Freecall 1800 810 122 or submit an online form here.
