Get in touch, todayHelping your child explore the world
We create support designed for your child to help them build the skills and confidence they need to grow in independence and explore the world safely.

Growing independence
Children and teenagers need lots of different skills as they start school, make friends and enter the workforce.
Through every experience, it’s important they have the support they need to become confident and independent adults.
Whatever your child hopes to do, we can help them to become more independent and learn the skills they need to start achieving their goals and milestones today.

Skills to establish independence
Our programs for children and teens are designed to teach them the skills they need to grow into confident and independent adults. What this looks like is up to you, your child, and what they want to achieve.
Support for your child could include:
- Assistance at school, including everything from getting from the classroom to the playground to setting up their desk
- Help becoming involved in fun activities like sports teams or art programs
- Learning practical life skills like helping with chores, learning to cook basic meals and how to manage money
- Preparation for future study or joining the workforce
- Gaining mobility skills to confidently explore their community and the world beyond
- Help forming friendships and going out to socialise with friends
- Learning how to use devices to make life easier and increase independence, including devices they already own like a smartphone!
Kyle’s story

My instructor teaches me to do all kinds of things, like catch public transport and get around the shops that I go to with my friends. We talk about the goals that I’ve set for myself and then focus on trying to achieve them.

As a parent, we all worry about the growth and development of our children. But by assisting you and your child with vision loss, we can help to ease some of your concerns.

Supporting you to support them
We understand that being a parent of a child with a vision impairment can come with lots of questions about how to best assist them both now and throughout their life.
That’s why you play a big part in the services your child receives, so you know exactly what they’re learning and are able to support them and help them practice outside our sessions. Our instructors will also work with you to develop the skills you need to help your child learn, which can help you to become more knowledgeable and confident.
As we work together, our goal is to help you receive the support you need to know your child can be independent.
