The Queensland and Commonwealth Governments have recently announced the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is set for an early launch in parts of North Queensland.

The scheme will be available from January 2016 to children and young people aged under 18 years in Townsville and Charters Towers and to all eligible people with a disability in Palm Island.

The rollout of the NDIS is expected to continue in other areas around the state in July 2016, with full implementation expected to be completed by June 2019. The exact timing of when each area will transition to the NDIS is currently being finalised, with updates expected to be announced for a phased rollout.

The NDIS is designed to ensure people with a disability not only receive the support they need, but that they also have more choice about the services they need and who delivers those services.

If you are eligible for the NDIS, we strongly encourage you to engage with us prior to arranging any appointments with your local NDIS Office or Planner. This will allow you to exercise control over the decisions on what services you will receive under the new scheme.
